Mission Statement

A Door of Hope is a healing ministry for women.  Our mission is to help women and their families find healing for wounds that can't be seen with human eyes through the love and power of Jesus Christ by providing them a safe place of support.  We believe that only the Lord can heal the deep emotional wounds that have impacted the lives of these women.  Through faith in Christ and a relationship with Him we will see them recover and overcome past hurts.

Hosea 2:15: God said he will turn the valley of Achor into a door of hope.

My Testimony

April 1996 I turned myself in at Livingston Parish Jail. I was 4 months pregnant and strung out on crack cocaine. I felt so alone! My family had given up on me. Who could blame them after putting up with my addiction for 12 years? While I was in Jail something changed my life forever. I found the key that opened the lock to my prison. Not the building, but a prison far worse than any jail I’ve ever been in. You know… the one that’s on the inside of you that you can’t break free from. Some of us serve a life sentence in this prison. What I did not realize was that the root of my problem wasn’t drugs. It went deeper than that. There were hurts in my past. Deep hurts caused by abuse and abortion. I used drugs to numb the pain and fill the emptiness inside. Honestly, it went deeper than that. I discovered that the root of my problem was that I was a sinner and I needed God in my life. Jesus was the key to my prison. He will set you free from addiction, and every hurt from your past no matter what it is or what you’ve done in your life. God loves you. He will not turn you away.

A Door of Hope is a safe place to get help for your addiction. Others just like you will be there to encourage, pray, and listen. You had the courage to read this. Take the next step. Come to the support group. Friday nights 6:00 p.m. Office - (225)686-1123. See you there!

Roses of Sharon

Roses of Sharon is a retreat weekend designed to encourage the healing of women who've suffered from a past abortion.  Through a variety of exercises and group discussions, women are encouraged to bond with, and mourn the loss of their children.

If you would like more information, contact Julie or Kristen at the Family Resource Clinic.
